Cycling Kangaroo - NZ Tour: Dunedin to Middlemarch

Dunedin to Middlemarch

March 13th, 2006

Ready to rock & roll! Heading off from the B&B to Dunedin Railway Station

Our ride started with a trip on the Taieri Gorge Railway. This goes through some pretty rugged country. This is one of the many bridges crossed while on the train to the start of the ride.

Risking life and limb I stuck my head out the window to take this…

A quick stop at Hindon, the halfway point.'Sue' the Collie is standing guard here.

Back on the train we pass, 'One Tree Hill'. Wonder how they decided on that name....

After 2 hours, the train leaves after dumping us in the middle of nowhere. We're on our own now.

Pooky is ready to ride, but has discovered that the bike provided is the wrong size. He accepted my offer to let him travel in my panniers.

The scenery was very dry and not at all what I was expecting for New Zealand. All the same, very dramatic even if the don’t really show it too well.

There were lots of strange looking rock formations.

So of course Rick had to climb one.....

Before long, I get my first flat....

After that unscheduled stop, we arrived in Middlemarch where we were given a beautiful sunset, so I will now bore you with several sunset photos.

Sunset in Middlemarch

...more sunset....

...and again....

…hey, I culled a lot of the shots.....
